About the position

Blue Dog Bakery is seeking a Demand Planner to join their team, responsible for ensuring product availability through accurate demand forecasting and inventory management. This hybrid role requires collaboration across departments to align sales, marketing, and production efforts, ultimately supporting the company's growth in the pet treat market.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement accurate demand forecasting methodologies using point of sale and historical shipment data.
  • Create a production plan based on current inventory levels.
  • Facilitate the consensus forecast process among sales and marketing teams to gather insights and feedback for accurate demand projections.
  • Challenge assumptions and recommend adjustments to forecasts.
  • Hold all functions accountable for their contributions to the forecasting process.
  • Coordinate demand plan initiatives related to new product launches or discontinuations, working closely with product development and marketing teams.
  • Continuously monitor and refine forecasts based on market changes and inventory levels.
  • Lead the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process, ensuring alignment among sales, marketing, finance, and co-manufacturers.
  • Monitor inventory levels in distribution centers and develop strategies to align inventory with demand forecasts.
  • Identify potential stockouts or excess inventory situations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide inventory analytics and updates to the team.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
  • Document and standardize processes to create a framework for future growth and scalability.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in demand planning and S&OP in food manufacturing or CPG.
  • Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in demand forecasting tools and ERP systems (NetSuite familiarity a plus).
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills to balance conflicting demands between departments.
  • Rigorous attention to detail and accuracy with high accountability.
  • Ability to make fast-paced decisions based on frequently updated information.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management; ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong written and oral English skills.
