About the position

The Demand Planner at Owens & Minor plays a crucial role in the healthcare supply chain by executing demand planning processes and collaborating with various teams to ensure accurate forecasting. This position is responsible for developing demand planning models, analyzing market trends, and improving forecast accuracy to enhance customer satisfaction and optimize inventory management. The Demand Planner will also engage with external customers to align on demand plans and support new product launches.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain demand planning models and tools to improve forecast accuracy and reliability in North America.
  • Support Planning System Master Data maintenance, including parameter tuning and demand forecasting unit creation.
  • Monitor and audit automated Market Insight to capture sales and marketing opportunities accurately.
  • Utilize historical sales data and market trends to forecast customer demand for products.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and operations teams to gather insights and align on demand forecasts.
  • Support the New Customer Onboarding Process and manage customer exits.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as forecast accuracy and forecast bias for improvement.
  • Lead and support sustainable process improvement using Lean Six Sigma principles.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities in the demand planning process and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve demand planning processes and methodologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field.
  • Master's degree is a plus.
  • 7 or more years in Demand Planning, preferably in Medical Products.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with demand planning systems, preferably SAP IBP.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at different organizational levels through strong presentation skills.
  • Experience collaborating with external customers to align on demand plans.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams to create unified demand plans.
  • Ability to manipulate large datasets and perform complex calculations.
