About the position

The Demand Planner is a critical role within the organization, responsible for demand forecasting and business analysis activities. This position serves as a vital link between merchandising and supply chain operations, ensuring that there is alignment between demand plans and supply capabilities. The Demand Planner will develop and maintain promotional demand forecasts down to the item level, which is essential for effective inventory management and sales planning. This role requires a keen understanding of market trends and consumer behavior to accurately predict future demand and adjust forecasts accordingly. In addition to developing forecasts for promotional items, the Demand Planner will also be tasked with maintaining demand forecasts for new items and base demand for existing products. This involves a thorough review of tactical demand trends and making necessary adjustments to forecast inputs and outputs. Collaboration is key in this role, as the Demand Planner will participate in consensus demand meetings with cross-functional partners to ensure that all stakeholders are aligned on forecasts. The ability to resolve discrepancies in forecasts for replenishment, promotional sales, and new item planning is crucial for the success of this position. The Demand Planner must be adept at recognizing trends or patterns in data and adjusting forecasts as necessary to reflect changing market conditions. This role requires a proactive approach to demand planning, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions based on data analysis. The Demand Planner will also be expected to perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team and the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains promotional demand forecasts down to item level.
  • Develop and maintain new items and base demand for existing items.
  • Reviews tactical demand trends and adjusts forecast inputs and outputs as needed.
  • Collaborates during consensus demand meetings with cross-functional partners to ensure alignment on forecasts.
  • Resolves accurate forecasts for replenishment, promotional sales, new item forecasting and planning and for the forecast accuracy for assigned categories.
  • Recognizes trends or patterns and adjusting forecasts as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or similar field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Demand Planning or similar role with emphasis on data analysis.
  • Working knowledge of business principles and supply chain processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access and Excel, DOMO, SQL, VBA, and other applicable software applications.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.
  • Adaptable, resourceful, and forward-thinking.
