About the position

The Demand Planner at Aviat Networks will play a crucial role in transforming the Sales Funnel into a Supply Plan that can be effectively executed by the company's contract manufacturers. This position requires a strong focus on material forecasts, safety stock levels, and other supply strategies to ensure that inventory levels are balanced with customer satisfaction metrics. The Demand Planner will need to maintain effective communication with both internal teams, such as Sales and Product Line Management, and external customers to ensure that the Supply Plan aligns with long-term product line objectives. In this role, the Demand Planner will be responsible for defining supply strategies for all commodities that support the company's business. This includes balancing inventory levels, managing liabilities, and addressing excess and obsolescence while ensuring customer satisfaction through metrics like Average Response Time (ARO) and On-Time Delivery (OTD). The planner will interact closely with Sales and Product Line Management teams to understand demand drivers and will provide support for planners to execute strategies using MRP tools. The Demand Planner will also lead process improvement projects within the Planning group, analyze demand trends, and develop models for order fulfillment based on supplier lead times and inventory trade-offs. They will be tasked with developing demand forecasts and supply plans based on various business rules and escalating any shortages or overages to management as necessary. Additionally, the planner will measure the effectiveness of strategies through service levels and inventory turns, driving continuous improvement projects related to the planning and forecasting process. Monthly presentations of Planning KPIs will also be part of the responsibilities, along with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Define supply strategies for all commodities used to support the company's business.
  • Balance inventory levels with customer satisfaction-driven metrics.
  • Interact with Sales and Product Line Management teams to understand demand drivers.
  • Provide support for planners to execute strategies through MRP tools.
  • Develop, maintain, and recommend strategies for improving key performance metrics for the Operations Planning group.
  • Lead process improvement projects within the Planning group.
  • Balance inventory between company warehouses based on company needs.
  • Analyze demand trends and actual shipments to develop models for consumption by commodities and geographical markets.
  • Develop demand forecasts and supply plans based on business rules and customer orders.
  • Communicate material availability status with Sales and Order Fulfillment groups.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects related to the planning and forecast process.
  • Develop and present Planning KPIs monthly.
  • Work on several projects or issues simultaneously.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or related discipline.
  • 4 years or more experience, including at least 3 years in a demand planning role within a manufacturing company of Electronics or Telecommunications products.
  • Experience with a major ERP system, preferably Oracle.
  • Superior communication skills for interaction with senior management.
  • Ability to analyze and present information to upper management.
  • Ability to work autonomously with a heavy workload and meet deadlines.
  • Training in statistics and probabilities, especially in balancing supply, demand, and service levels.
  • Ability to use Database Management Software and create customized queries.
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • APICs certification and/or experience using RapidResponse is a plus.
