About the position

The Demand Planner at Owens & Minor plays a crucial role in the healthcare supply chain by executing demand planning processes and collaborating with various cross-functional teams. This position focuses on generating accurate demand forecasts, improving customer satisfaction, and optimizing inventory management. The Demand Planner will also engage with external customers to align on demand plans and support new product launches, ultimately contributing to the company's mission of advancing healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain demand planning models and tools to improve forecast accuracy and reliability in North America.
  • Support Planning System Master Data maintenance, including parameter tuning and demand forecasting unit creation.
  • Monitor and audit automated Market Insight to capture sales and marketing opportunities accurately.
  • Utilize historical sales data and market trends to forecast customer demand for products.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and operations teams to gather insights and align on demand forecasts.
  • Support the New Customer Onboarding Process and manage customer exits.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as forecast accuracy and forecast bias for improvement.
  • Lead and support sustainable process improvement using Lean Six Sigma principles.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities in the demand planning process and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve demand planning processes and methodologies.
  • Support Next Gen Digital Supply Chain projects with user acceptance testing and business requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field.
  • 7 or more years in Demand Planning, preferably in Medical Products.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in statistical forecasting and the ability to explain assumptions and variations.
  • Extensive experience in Demand Planning systems, with SAP IBP preferred.
  • Ability to manipulate large datasets and perform complex calculations.
  • Strong presentation skills, including verbal, written, and electronic communication.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related field is a plus.
  • Experience in leading and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with external customers.
