About the position

The Demand Planner at Interstate Batteries is responsible for all forecasting and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) activities for a designated portion of the business. This role involves creating and maintaining forecast models, incorporating market intelligence, and ensuring effective communication with supply and procurement teams to meet inventory needs. The Demand Planner serves as a critical link between commercial requirements and supply chain operations, leading the monthly S&OP process and collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve accurate demand forecasts.

Responsibilities

• Create demand forecasts using statistical modeling.
• Review and summarize resulting statistical forecast models.
• Gather, analyze, and validate data related to New Product Introductions (NPI), End of Life (EOL), sell-through, promotions, weather, and VIO data.
• Partner with Finance, Sales, Supply & Operations, and Commercialization to ensure a consensus on demand forecasts.
• Measure, diagnose, and mitigate bias in forecasts.
• Analyze supply and demand imbalances and facilitate resolutions.
• Ensure gaps and overlaps are addressed throughout the S&OP process.
• Host S&OP meetings and communicate key conclusions to stakeholders.
• Represent the Planning function in New Product Development projects.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant working experience.
• BA/BS degree in supply chain, logistics, business, technical, or equivalent discipline.
• Understanding of Planning, Scheduling & S&OP principles.
• Strong quantitative skills for analyzing Supply Chain Management (SCM) problems.
• Ability to drive continuous improvement and identify root-cause solutions.
• Strong knowledge of forecasting techniques and data sources.

Nice-to-haves

• APICS certification
• Green Belt Certification
• Experience with SAP, o9, Manugistics, or similar supply chain planning tools.
• Familiarity with lean six sigma methodologies.
• Prior experience in a high volume, fast-paced, customer-focused supply chain.
