About the position

The Demand Planner at Fineline is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the manufacturing production of inventory. This position entails maintaining processes for inbound and outbound logistics, as well as production-related forecasting, scheduling, and planning. The Demand Planner will work closely with the leadership team to ensure order fulfillment and the achievement of company goals. This role is essential in driving the efficiency of operations and ensuring that the company meets its strategic objectives. In this role, the Demand Planner will establish and actively monitor analytical and key performance indicators to benchmark planning and logistics performance. This includes identifying opportunities for improvement within the manufacturing process. The Demand Planner will develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts based on historical sales data, market trends, and collaboration with sales, marketing, and production teams. Analyzing sales trends, seasonality, and promotional activities will be crucial to creating demand plans that reflect expected peaks and troughs in customer demand. Additionally, the Demand Planner will manage the inventory planning, shipping, and delivery cycle, monitoring and reporting on demand forecast accuracy. This includes identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions to enhance forecast reliability. The role also involves supporting and improving operations planning processes to optimize product flow and inventory placement across the supply chain, in support of strategic business goals. The Demand Planner will assist in leading logistics operations, including outbound and inbound freight and third-party warehouse utilization, while developing and implementing logistics strategies and processes. Collaboration is key in this role, as the Demand Planner will work with purchasing and production teams both domestically and overseas to ensure that operations activities are adequately planned and scheduled. The position requires maximizing the purchased goods within a shipping container to effectively control costs and working closely with inventory management teams to ensure that inventory levels align with demand forecasts, minimizing excess stock and reducing stockouts. The Demand Planner will also support customer service targets by ensuring product availability aligns with demand while balancing the financial implications of inventory in the supply chain. Continuous refinement of demand planning processes, incorporating new data sources and methodologies to improve accuracy and efficiency, is also a critical aspect of this role. Participation in the Sales and Operations Planning process will be required, providing input on demand forecasts and inventory strategies.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Effective analysis/problem solving/decision-making skills.
  • Proficient with ERP systems and Sage.
  • Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
  • Three years of purchasing or inventory management experience preferred but not required within a manufacturing field.
