About the position

The Demand Planner at Interstate Batteries is responsible for all forecasting and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) activities for a designated portion of the business. This role involves creating and maintaining forecast models, incorporating market intelligence, and ensuring effective communication with supply and procurement teams to meet inventory needs. The Demand Planner serves as a critical link between commercial requirements and supply chain operations, leading the monthly S&OP process and fostering collaboration across various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Create demand forecasts using statistical modeling techniques.
  • Review and summarize statistical forecast models.
  • Gather, analyze, and validate data related to new product introductions, end-of-life products, promotions, and other influencing factors.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Sales, and other departments to ensure a consensus on demand forecasts.
  • Measure and mitigate bias in forecasts to improve accuracy.
  • Analyze supply and demand imbalances and facilitate resolutions within the supply chain.
  • Ensure data accuracy and address gaps in the S&OP process.
  • Host S&OP meetings and communicate key conclusions to stakeholders.
  • Represent the Planning function in New Product Development projects.
  • Act as a super user of planning tools.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • BA/BS degree in supply chain, logistics, business, technical, or equivalent discipline.
  • Understanding of Planning, Scheduling, and S&OP principles.
  • Strong quantitative skills for analyzing Supply Chain Management problems.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement and identify root-cause solutions.
  • Strong internal customer orientation and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of forecasting techniques and data preparation.

Nice-to-haves

  • APICS certification
  • Green Belt Certification
  • Knowledge of forecasting's impact on Master Production Scheduling and Material Requirements Planning.
  • Experience with SAP, o9, Manugistics, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with lean six sigma methodologies.
  • Prior experience in a high volume, fast-paced supply chain.
