About the position

The Dementia Care/ADRC Specialist position at Oneida County involves working within the Department of Social Services/ADRC to create dementia-capable communities and provide essential resources and information to individuals affected by dementia. This role is integral in determining client needs and ensuring they receive appropriate services and referrals. The position emphasizes a trauma-informed approach to service delivery, fostering a compassionate and supportive environment for both clients and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Create a dementia capable ADRC and dementia friendly communities.
  • Provide dementia-specific information and resources to providers, agencies, persons with dementia, caregivers, and the community.
  • Act as an ADRC Specialist, providing information and assistance to the public.
  • Conduct Long Term Care Functional Screens for Family Care / IRIS.

Requirements

  • Full-time availability (40 hours per week).
  • Experience in social services or a related field.
  • Knowledge of dementia care and resources.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with aging and disability populations.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles.
