About the position

The Denials Revenue Cycle Analyst at Boston Medical Center is responsible for providing analytical support and process improvement within the revenue cycle. This role involves managing reporting initiatives and utilizing various analytic tools to enhance understanding of revenue cycle operations. The analyst will work closely with the Revenue Cycle team to drive improvements and support the organization's financial health.

Responsibilities

  • Perform root cause analysis for all revenue cycle areas, communicate trends, and provide process improvement recommendations.
  • Serve as a member and resource to various committees including the Revenue Cycle Council & Denials Management teams.
  • Implement reporting and analytic strategies to decrease costs, maximize quality, and identify opportunities for improvement within revenue cycle financials.
  • Analyze aging for all payers, identifying opportunities for accelerating cash and reducing accounts receivable over 90 days.
  • Identify trends in denial and payment delays by payers and implement prevention opportunities to reduce denials and increase revenue.
  • Facilitate communication among all Revenue Cycle teams through regular meetings.
  • Stay updated on the evolving business and analytics needs at BMC, BUMG, and peer organizations.
  • Create customized reports as requested by system users and train core users on reporting tools.
  • Recommend new or modified approaches to reporting to improve financial and statistical reporting.
  • Lead projects outside the original scope of work as needed to maintain a high-performing revenue cycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, healthcare, or related field preferred; master's preferred.
  • 2 or more years' experience in finance, revenue cycle management, or information systems, with healthcare experience required.
  • Strong analytic and reporting skills with the ability to identify and implement continuous process improvements and automation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Epic reporting platforms such as SlicerDicer, Workbench, and Cubes.
  • Demonstrated super user ability in third-party analytic applications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting, finance, and business administration.
