Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist during various treatment procedures.
• Review treatment needed and answer any questions prior to starting procedures.
• Complete all treatment consents including re-care and op sheets.
• Perform routine dental cleanings.
• Plan for the next visit prior to patient departure.
• Review charts daily to check x-rays, clinical notes, and frequency limitations for patients.
• Maintain adequate supplies and compile a list for inventory control and ordering purposes.
• Educate parents and patients on appropriate oral hygiene strategies.
• Take and develop dental radiographs.
• Monitor nitrous oxide during procedures.
• Provide support by sterilizing and delivering instruments to the treatment area.
• Position instruments for dentist's access and assist with suctioning and passing instruments.
• Stock supplies and write clinical notes as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with OSHA standards.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED certificate.
• Successful completion of a dental assistant program as per state guidelines.
• Dental x-ray certification.
• Coronal Polishing Certification.

Nice-to-haves

• Additional certification such as nitrous oxide certification.
