Dental Assistant (EF)(Open Continuous)

About the position

This position is a federal role that requires applicants to demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties associated with the job. Experience can include both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer service through National Service programs. Applicants must clearly identify their duties and responsibilities in previous positions, including the total number of hours worked per week. The position requires radiological certification as per Public Law 97-35, which mandates that individuals administering radiological procedures meet specific credentialing standards. This includes completing an accredited educational program and obtaining certification as radiographers. The job is open for applications from December 4, 2024, to September 30, 2025.

Responsibilities

• Administer radiological procedures in compliance with federal regulations.
• Provide dental assistance in general or specialized dentistry.
• Set up instruments for dental procedures and provide chairside assistance.
• Record treatments rendered and provide receptionist services.
• Expose and process digital oral x-rays.

Requirements

• Radiological Certification for GS-3 and GS-4 levels.
• For GS-02: At least 3 months of general experience or a high school diploma.
• For GS-03: At least 6 months of general experience or completion of a 1-year dental assistant program.
• For GS-04: 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Completion of a 2-year dental assistant or dental hygiene program.
• Experience in customer service, record-keeping, and clinic maintenance.
