Dental Assistant (EF)(Open Continuous)

About the position

This position is a federal role that requires applicants to demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties associated with the job. Experience can include both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer service through National Service programs. Applicants must clearly outline their duties and responsibilities in their resume, including the total number of hours worked per week. The position requires radiological certification for GS-3 and GS-4 levels, as mandated by Public Law 97-35, which stipulates that individuals administering radiological procedures must meet specific credentialing standards. This includes completing an accredited educational program and obtaining certification as radiographers. The job is open for applications from December 4, 2024, to September 30, 2025.

Responsibilities

• Provide dental assistance to general or specialized dentistry.
• Perform chairside assistance during dental procedures.
• Set up proper instruments for dental procedures.
• Record treatments rendered.
• Provide receptionist services.
• Expose and process digital oral x-rays.

Requirements

• For GS-02: At least 3 months of general experience or a high school diploma.
• For GS-03: At least 6 months of general experience or completion of a 1-year dental assistant program or a 1-year dental hygiene program.
• For GS-04: At least 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Completion of a 2-year dental assistant program.
• Completion of a 2-year dental hygiene program.
