About the position

The position is for a Dental Officer in the Federal service, specifically under the Dental Officer Series 0680. Applicants must also have passed the National Board of Dental Surgery (NBDE) and possess a current, unrestricted license to practice dentistry. Medical requirements include the ability to distinguish shades of color. The position qualifies for the GS-11 grade level, with additional qualifications for GS-12.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries, and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area.
  • Perform dental procedures such as the removal of decay, filling cavities, straightening, extracting, and repairing teeth.
  • Treat gum diseases and perform corrective surgery.
  • Make measurements/models for dentures to replace missing teeth.
  • Administer anesthetics and write prescriptions.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Passed the National Board of Dental Surgery (NBDE).
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry.
  • Ability to distinguish shades of color.
  • For GS-12 level, completion of a 2-year residency program in dentistry or equivalent experience.
