About the position

The Dental Assistant plays a crucial role in facilitating direct patient care by assisting the dentist in various dental procedures, including restorative, prosthodontic, and oral surgery. This part-time position involves preparing patients for treatment, managing appointments, and providing chair-side assistance during procedures. The Dental Assistant is responsible for ensuring patient safety and comfort while also performing administrative tasks to support the clinical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for treatment and assist the dentist during dental procedures.
  • Expose dental diagnostic x-rays and take dental histories and vital signs of patients.
  • Assist the dentist in managing medical or dental emergencies.
  • Provide administrative support to clinical staff, ensuring efficient patient flow and scheduling.
  • Monitor patient appointments and maintain communication with clinical support staff to resolve delays.
  • Input data for follow-up appointments and generate letters to inform patients of their clinic appointments.

Requirements

  • United States Citizenship is required.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Six months of experience in a dental assistant role or completion of a 1-year dental assistant program accredited by the ADA.
  • Certification in radiologic procedures as per Public Law 97-35 and 42 CFR Part 75 standards.
  • Basic life support certification is highly desirable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) is highly desirable.
