About the position
The Dental Assistant at Toccoa Family Dentistry plays a crucial role in providing personalized patient care and support within a collaborative team environment. This position focuses on building long-term relationships with patients, ensuring they receive tailored care that meets their unique needs. The Dental Assistant will utilize standard dental office equipment and assist in various clinical tasks while contributing to a positive and supportive workplace culture.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during procedures by handing them instruments and materials.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays).
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care.
- Maintain patient records and manage appointment schedules.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Assist in the management of dental supplies and inventory.
- Perform administrative tasks as needed, including billing and insurance verification.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited dental assisting program.
- Valid x-ray certificate.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience in a dental assisting role preferred.
- Skilled in the use of standard dental office equipment including autoclave, x-ray machine, and intraoral camera.
- Knowledge of cross-contamination prevention and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to take radiographs, including FMX and Pano.
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Practice Management Software.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Cerec & Itero systems.
- Invisalign education experience.
- Strong communication skills to engender trust with patients and staff.
