About the position
The Dental Assistant at Valley Health Partners Community Health Center (VHP) plays a crucial role in assisting the dentist during patient examinations and treatments within the dental medicine program. The primary responsibilities include maintaining treatment rooms, laboratory, instruments, and equipment, as well as sterilizing dental instruments. Additionally, the Dental Assistant will assist with clerical duties as directed, which includes patient check-in and check-out processes and ordering dental supplies. This position is particularly focused on providing dental care for a predominantly pediatric population and may involve assisting on a mobile Dental Unit.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentist during examinations and treatments of patients.
- Maintain treatment rooms, laboratory, instruments, and equipment.
- Sterilize dental instruments.
- Assist with clerical duties including patient check-in/out.
- Order dental supplies.
- Provide dental care primarily for a pediatric population.
- Assist on a mobile Dental Unit.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- One year of dental assisting experience in a healthcare setting, preferred.
- Successful completion of Radiation Health and Safety Exam (RHS) from Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) upon hire or within 6 months of hire.
- BLS (Basic Life Support Training) upon hire.
Nice-to-haves
- Postsecondary nondegree award, preferred.
- Dental assisting experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting, preferred.
