About the position

The Dental Assistant position at the City of Cincinnati involves providing advanced intra-oral dental tasks and clinical support essential for the operation of a dental clinic. The role requires performing various dental procedures, assisting dentists during treatments, and ensuring a clean and organized work environment. The Dental Assistant will also be responsible for patient communication and education, as well as maintaining dental equipment and instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced intra-oral dental tasks during examination and treatment of patients.
  • Perform clinical support functions essential for the operation of a dental clinic.
  • Assist dentists or dental hygienists during dental treatment with direct four-handed assistance.
  • Maintain instruments and equipment used in examination and treatment of dental patients.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providing oral hygiene instructions and explaining procedures.
  • Record examination findings and treatment on patients' charts.
  • Expose, process, and mount dental radiographs.
  • Keep dental operatories clean, sanitary, and organized.
  • Sterilize instruments and maintain instruments in treatment trays.
  • Assist with clinic inventory and ensure that laboratory work has been returned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus training or three years of experience as a chairside Dental Assistant.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Dental Assistant Radiographer License from the Ohio State Dental Board.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a public health and/or a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting.
