The Dental Hygienist at Willamette Dental Group plays a crucial role in providing dental care and education to patients, working collaboratively with a dental team. Responsibilities

  • Apply the dental hygiene process of care as a framework for care delivery.
  • Gather accurate patient data for systemic and oral comprehensive assessment.
  • Perform extra-oral and intra-oral exams and chart dental findings.
  • Conduct risk assessments through patient interviews.
  • Expose and evaluate diagnostic radiographs according to treatment guidelines.
  • Document assessment findings in Electronic Dental Records (EDR) system.
  • Communicate treatment plans to patients and obtain consent.
  • Render appropriate dental hygiene care as dictated by the treatment plan.
  • Engage and educate patients as partners in care.
  • Continuously evaluate and counsel patients regarding their oral health status.
  • Perform infection control procedures and utilize appropriate barrier techniques.
  • Assist coworkers and maintain operatory and instruments.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Current unrestricted dental hygiene license required.
  • Current Oregon dental hygiene license in good standing required.
  • Local anesthesia endorsement required.
  • N2O permit required and must be kept current.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a dental practice setting.
  • Knowledge of dental software and electronic records management.
