About the position

The Dental Hygienist at The University of Vermont Medical Center will play a crucial role in providing dental hygiene services to patients within the organization. This position involves delivering preventive services and education to patients of record, ensuring they understand the importance of oral health. The Dental Hygienist will collaborate closely with residents and staff dentists to detail treatment plans in patient charts, ensuring that all necessary information is accurately recorded and communicated. Additionally, the role includes coaching patients on oral health practices while they undergo treatment in the clinic, fostering a supportive and educational environment for patients to improve their dental hygiene habits. The ideal candidate will be a graduate of a US or Canadian dental hygiene program, holding either an Associate or Bachelor degree in Dental Hygiene. A valid CPR certification and Vermont licensure are prerequisites for employment. While experience in a dental office is necessary, the position is also open to new graduates from accredited Dental Hygiene Schools, provided they have the appropriate documentation. Local Anesthesia certification is preferred, along with other relevant certifications such as Vermont State Dental Assistant Registration and CDA certificate, and Dental Assisting National Board Certificate.
