About the position

The Area Operations Manager (AOM) at Great Expressions Dental Centers is responsible for providing operational leadership and direction to assigned dental practices in the region. The AOM ensures operational and financial effectiveness through Practice Administrators (PAs) and aims to improve the financial health of the practices by recruiting and developing talent. The role involves monitoring key reports, coaching staff, and ensuring compliance with health and safety laws, while maintaining a high standard of office presentation.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a weekly visit schedule to offices to review operational strengths and coach on operational weaknesses with the PA and front desk team.
  • Consistently review providers' schedules and operational trip wires to identify weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.
  • Attend PM/AM meetings during visits providing feedback relative to the GEDC standard.
  • Ensure the PA communicates operational issues to the PSC and work directly with the PSC to bridge gaps.
  • Act as a liaison for providers to Clinical Directors and Regional Directors regarding clinical and operational issues.
  • Train PAs on customer service principles to ensure patient flow.
  • Perform facility reviews to ensure compliance with OSHA and healthcare laws.
  • Understand and manage P&L statements, coaching PAs on managing variable expenses.
  • Ensure PA compliance with financial policies including invoice approval and daily deposits.
  • Hold monthly regional meetings with PAs to deliver updates, training, and review best practices.
  • Assist PAs in structuring their team's day to address key priorities.
  • Delegate hiring responsibilities to PAs and ensure effective team performance.
  • Provide timely performance feedback and coaching to PAs.
  • Ensure PAs select and retain high-quality talent within the office.
  • Attend monthly AOM meetings as requested by the VP of Regional Operations.
  • Inspect offices during visits to ensure they are 'CEO Visit' ready and follow up on compliance matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management or a related business degree.
  • 5-7 years of experience in operations management.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience leading teams.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and business analytics systems.
  • Proven track record of developing productive working relationships through mentoring and training.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing budgets and delivering information from P&L statements.
