About the position
The Dental Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients at the Lake Elmo Clinic, responsible for providing a satisfying experience for patients and facilitating appointment scheduling. This role involves managing patient communications, scheduling appointments, handling patient records, and ensuring efficient clinic operations. The Dental Receptionist plays a crucial role in maintaining patient relationships and supporting the overall patient care process.
Responsibilities
- Interact positively and professionally with patients and other customer contacts, both in person and via phone communications.
- Schedule patient appointments using established principles and protocols to maintain efficient provider schedules.
- Review patient records prior to appointments to ensure necessary information is available and updated, including insurance information.
- Collect patient charges at the point of service for co-insurance or non-covered services, applying established patient payment guidelines.
- Assist co-workers in performing tasks to promote the smooth and effective function of the work unit.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Graduate of a formal training program in medical reception, an equivalent program, or a customer service program.
- Two years of experience as a medical or dental receptionist, or in medical/dental insurance processing.
- Demonstrated ability to organize work under pressure and manage multiple priorities and interruptions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working in a dental clinic.
