About the position
The Dentist 1 position at St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center involves providing comprehensive dental care to patients in a state facility. The role includes performing various dental procedures such as extractions, restorations, and oral surgery, while also examining and charting patients' dental conditions. The Dentist will work under the advisory direction of a higher-ranking dentist and may be the sole dental provider in smaller facilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform extractions, restorations, prosthetics, root canal therapy, prophylaxis, and limited periodontics.
- Administer local anesthesia and examine patients' dental conditions.
- Take and interpret dental x-rays and perform oral surgery.
- Treat oral diseases and infections, providing oral hygiene instruction where appropriate.
- Ensure regular examination, treatment, and complete dental care of patients.
Requirements
- Possession of a license and current registration to practice dentistry in New York State.
