The School of Human Evolution and Social Change (SHESC) at Arizona State University is seeking a highly motivated and organized Department Human Resources Specialist to join our Business Services HR team. This full-time position, which offers a hybrid work environment, is designed for individuals who thrive in a bustling academic setting and are eager to support a wide range of human resources functions. The successful candidate will report directly to the Lead Department Human Resources Specialist and will be responsible for providing high-volume support in various HR-related tasks, including payroll management, position management, recruitment, and time reporting processes. In this role, the Department Human Resources Specialist will engage in year-round recruitment efforts for staff and student workers, utilizing the BrassRing system to post positions, communicate with hiring supervisors and committees, and assist with screening and scheduling interviews. The specialist will also manage Graduate Research Assistant (RA) and Teaching Assistant (TA) appointments, ensuring a positive working relationship with faculty and staff involved in the graduate studies process. Additionally, the specialist will oversee the onboarding and offboarding processes for all employee classifications, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures. The position requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information, as well as proficiency in electronic data processing and applications relevant to human resources. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain effective working relationships with a diverse population, manage multiple tasks and priorities, and problem-solve in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Knowledge of academic policies and procedures is desirable, as is the ability to implement best practices in HR functions. Excellent communication skills are critical, as the specialist will routinely interact with SHESC staff, faculty, administrators, and external parties.
