About the position

The Machine Department Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations in the machine department, ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality production. This role involves managing team members, maintaining equipment, coordinating with other departments, and upholding production timelines. The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership skills and technical expertise in woodworking machinery, quality control, and team management.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise machine operators and support staff.
• Provide training, mentoring, and performance feedback to ensure a productive, safe, and motivated team.
• Plan and assign daily workloads based on production schedules.
• Ensure high-quality standards and efficiency in machine operations.
• Oversee routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all woodworking equipment, including CNC routers, edge banders, and panel saws.
• Monitor all stages of production to ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Perform inspections and collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to meet or exceed specifications.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste in the machine department.
• Enforce safety regulations and protocols, ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.
• Monitor supplies and materials for machine operations and work with procurement to ensure timely replenishment of necessary stock.

Requirements

• Experience in a millwork, woodworking, or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with woodworking machinery and CNC equipment.
• Knowledge of blueprint reading, shop math, and production techniques.
• Demonstrated experience in managing teams, with strong communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Strong commitment to quality control and process accuracy.
• Thorough understanding of workplace safety standards and regulations.
