About the position

The Department Manager of Instrumentation Engineering at Worley is responsible for overseeing the operations and performance of the instrumentation engineering department. This role involves managing budgets, staffing, and ensuring adherence to engineering standards and practices. The manager will also facilitate business development activities, maintain relationships with external parties, and support project execution strategies. The position requires strong leadership skills and a commitment to driving innovation and sustainability in engineering projects.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in budgeting and manages discipline operations to the budget.
  • Controls discipline staffing levels and organizational structure.
  • Oversees engineering software licensing costs and employee usage.
  • Creates and maintains discipline guidelines and ensures mentoring/training requirements are met.
  • Manages the employee performance review process.
  • Owns discipline technical competency and quality programs.
  • Ensures adherence to company processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports global standardization of equipment specifications and document templates.
  • Facilitates meeting project requirements through discipline guidelines and resource management.
  • May participate in project execution strategy and planning.
  • Drives innovative solutions and technology advances.
  • Works with Project Management Teams to address project issues and staffing requirements.
  • Reviews and authorizes work done by direct reports.

Requirements

  • Typically has 15+ years of relevant discipline experience and 3+ years in project leadership.
  • Strong background in discipline work and understanding of regulations, codes, and manufacturing standards.
  • Skilled in estimating project costs and writing proposal content.
  • Experience in risk management, quality, procurement, or construction execution.
  • Adept at budgeting and cost control.
  • Awarded a 4 or 5 year technical degree in science or engineering.

Nice-to-haves

  • Trained in leadership and project execution.
  • Actively licensed with a local engineering governing body where required by law.
