About the position

The Department Manager at Family Tree Nursery is a leadership role focused on overseeing daily operations within the garden center. Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily operations of the garden center department.

• Oversee product flow and inventory management.
• Communicate effectively with team members across all levels.
• Drive a sense of urgency and ownership within the department.
• Plan and facilitate events and workshops.
• Hire, train, and schedule staff to build a high-functioning team.

• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards throughout the store.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in horticulture sales, garden center management, or a related plant-based industry.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively.
• Knowledge of watering techniques and systems.
• Experience in hiring, training, and scheduling staff.
• Basic understanding of business profitability and financial decision-making.
• Competence with technology and Microsoft products.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with pest and disease management in plants.
