About the position

The Operations Leader - Merchandise at Petco is responsible for overseeing operational execution within the Pet Care Center, ensuring efficient merchandising and inventory management. This role focuses on achieving established goals and metrics while promoting a positive work environment and supporting team development. The Operations Leader is also accountable for maintaining safety standards and enhancing the guest experience through effective training and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Utilize business acumen to measure, analyze, and diagnose business trends.
• Support the implementation and execution of Inventory Management through training and coaching partners.
• Implement and execute Merchandising Management to include Brand Standards and Pricing.
• Process register transactions to create a great experience for each guest.
• Ensure the health and welfare of all animals according to policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for store partners, guests, and animals.
• Train and develop partners on proper receiving, processing, and stocking procedures.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures to minimize shrink.
• Accountable as Leader on Duty for supporting guest experience and Pet Care Center execution.
• Promote a positive leadership culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college level business/management courses preferred.
• 1 or more years of management experience required, with 2 or more years preferred.
• Must be licensed to operate a motor vehicle.
• Proficiency in communication, organizational, and computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated proficiency in general business practices and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the pet industry or retail management.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English.
