About the position

The Youth Services Supervisor at Jackson County Public Library is responsible for overseeing the youth services department, ensuring quality library services for young patrons and their caregivers. This role involves supervising staff, managing library collections, and planning engaging programs and activities for children and teens. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader with a strong commitment to customer service and community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train youth services staff.
• Oversee and participate in daily operations at the Youth Services Desk.
• Assist patrons in the use of library services, facilities, and equipment.
• Interpret library policies for patrons.
• Plan, deliver, and promote storytimes, programs, activities, and displays.
• Develop and manage youth library collections to maximize access and use.
• Work cooperatively with staff throughout the Fontana Regional Library system to plan, implement, and evaluate long and short-term goals and objectives.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree or equivalent experience (Bachelor's degree preferred).
• Two years' library experience.
• Two years' customer service experience.
• At least one year's supervisory experience (strongly preferred).
• Commitment to quality customer service with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Thorough knowledge of current reading trends and interests of young people and their caregivers.
• Proficiency in using a variety of technology.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills.
