About the position

The Departmental Analyst 12 - FOIA and Compliance Coordinator position at the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP) is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state FOIA laws and regulations. This role involves processing FOIA requests, interpreting relevant laws, and drafting policies to support the department's compliance needs. The position is integral to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace while contributing to the department's mission of improving educational opportunities for Michiganders.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state FOIA laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Process FOIA requests and ensure responses comply with applicable laws.
  • Research existing statewide policies and draft new policies for MiLEAP as needed.
  • Support the compliance and policy needs of the department.
  • Act as a resource for interpreting FOIA laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any major.
  • Three years of professional experience related to the position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in policy drafting and compliance monitoring.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding FOIA.
