About the position

The Departmental Analyst (Trainee) position in the Field Operations Unit is responsible for conducting driver assessment reexaminations across Michigan. This role involves evaluating medical and vision statements, rehabilitation evaluations, and substance abuse assessments to ensure compliance with state standards. The analyst will work closely with various stakeholders, including law enforcement and court staff, to interpret evaluations and administer licensing controls as per the Michigan Vehicle Code. Regular travel, including overnight stays, is required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct driver assessment reexaminations in person or via videoconferencing.
  • Review and evaluate medical statements, vision statements, rehabilitation evaluations, and substance abuse evaluations.
  • Apply state physical and mental standards to determine licensing eligibility.
  • Assist branch staff, courts, and law enforcement in interpreting evaluations and medical statements.
  • Administer appropriate licensing controls as per the Michigan Vehicle Code.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
  • No specific experience required for Departmental Analyst 9 level.
  • One year of professional experience for Departmental Analyst 10 level.
  • Two years of professional experience, including one year at the intermediate (10) level for Departmental Analyst P11.

  • Experience reading and interpreting Michigan driving records.
