About the position

The Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) is seeking a Departmental Specialist to work in the Office of Consumer Services. This role focuses on providing support to Michigan residents regarding no-fault auto insurance and catastrophic accident care claims. The position involves regular communication with consumers, healthcare providers, and legislative offices, requiring effective written and verbal communication skills. Responsibilities

• Provide support to Michigan residents regarding no-fault auto insurance and catastrophic accident care claims.
• Act as a resource for consumer issues and provide technical guidance related to no-fault auto insurance and relevant public acts.
• Communicate regularly with consumers, healthcare providers, licensees, legislative offices, and other state departments.
• Analyze complex statutes and policy forms, converting information into consumer-friendly formats.
• Participate in webinars, conference calls, and employee development training.

Requirements

• Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
• Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
