About the position

The Departmental Technician 7-10 position within the Business Taxpayer Services Division is designed for individuals who are self-motivated, resourceful, and focused on problem-solving. This role serves as a technical resource for Sales, Use, and Withholding taxes, requiring strong communication and relationship-building skills. The technician will document processes, recommend efficiency improvements, collaborate with other departments, perform complex queries, and assist in resolving complex tax issues.

Responsibilities

• Document processes and procedures related to Sales, Use, and Withholding taxes.
• Recommend efficiency improvements for standard methods of operations.
• Collaborate with other Treasury departments and divisions.
• Perform complex queries to support tax-related activities.
• Lead and/or participate in special projects as assigned.
• Assist supervisors and front-line staff in resolving complex tax issues.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service for Departmental Technician 7.
• One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service for Departmental Technician 8.
• One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service for Departmental Technician E9.
• Two years of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service for Departmental Technician 10.

Nice-to-haves

• Completion of two years of college may substitute for experience for Departmental Technician 7.
• Possession of a bachelor's degree may substitute for experience for Departmental Technician 8.
• Possession of a bachelor's degree and one year of job-related experience may substitute for experience for Departmental Technician E9.
• Possession of a bachelor's degree and one year of professional experience may substitute for experience for Departmental Technician 10.
