About the position

The Departmental Technician 7-E9 position at the Macomb Correctional Facility involves performing a full range of technical departmental assignments, primarily focused on record office functions. The role requires knowledge of technical methods to coordinate prisoner transfers, maintain files, and ensure accurate prisoner time computation. The technician will utilize various information systems to complete tasks and will work under indirect supervision, adhering to established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of technical departmental assignments related to record office functions.
• Coordinate approved prisoner transfers and maintain accurate data entry and file maintenance.
• Complete forms and documents for audits, screening forms, and worksheets related to Community Residential Programs (CRP).
• Enter time reviews, misconduct, and forfeiture transactions to ensure accurate prisoner time computation procedures.
• Utilize CMIS, LEIN, and OMNI systems to complete computer tasks related to prisoner management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.
• One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service or as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.
• One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service or two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.

Nice-to-haves

• Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may substitute for the experience requirement for Departmental Technician 7.
• Possession of a Bachelor's degree may substitute for the experience requirement for Departmental Technician 8.
• Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of job-related experience may substitute for the experience requirement for Departmental Technician E9.
