About the position

The Deposit Operations Specialist I at Alpine Bank is responsible for performing a variety of deposit operations duties, including monitoring account setups, processing transactions, and maintaining customer information files. This role requires attention to detail and proficiency in various banking operations to ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor new account setups and changes to ensure proper documentation and Customer Identification Program (CIP) information are received and imaged.
  • Oversee customer address changes and manage bad address flags.
  • Recognize and log errors and missing documentation in account maintenance.
  • Monitor W-8 statuses and request updates as needed.
  • Review and update new account and product documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Track exceptions to CIP requirements.
  • Process returned mail and update the system accordingly.
  • Scan and index documentation for easy access.
  • Perform daily activities related to deposit operations and support staff with processing and project assignments.
  • Reconcile internal accounts and balance cash for locations.
  • Handle clerical and administrative functions, including phone calls and mail processing.
  • Process incoming and outgoing transactions through item processing.
  • Handle exception items including chargebacks, non-sufficient funds (NSFs), and returns.
  • Monitor reports to ensure compliance with processes and procedures.
  • Perform foreign item processing.
  • Complete research requests and verifications of deposit (VODs).
  • Process requests for demand deposit account (DDA) and CIF maintenance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalency.
  • One (1) year related experience as an Operations Specialist or training in a banking environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Familiarity with state and federal banking regulations and Alpine Bank's policies and procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills and detail orientation.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe.
  • Ability to evaluate and prioritize workflow efficiently.
  • Capability to maintain confidentiality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cold storage systems.
  • Previous training in banking operations.
