About the position

The Deposit Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting all processes within the Deposit Operations Department. This role involves handling exception items, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with banking regulations. The specialist will work closely with various departments to resolve issues related to deposits and transactions, while maintaining high standards of client service and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Review and resolve exception items (NSF, Non-post, Stops Pays) in collaboration with departments and lenders.
  • Ensure accurate documentation for Stop Payments and Reg CC Holds, confirming data entry accuracy.
  • Process daily incoming and outgoing returns (ACH, Checks).
  • Generate and mail daily notices to customers and departments.
  • Review and respond to ACH pre-notes and Notifications of Change (NOC).
  • Initiate NOCs as necessary and process branch items, cash letters, and foreign check items.
  • Render and print deposit account statements and respond to deposit account inquiries/disputes.
  • Process account transaction disputes in compliance with Regulation E standards.
  • Handle ATM/Debit card requests and inquiries, including account modifications and closures.
  • Process and balance credit card payments and manage Lock Box deposit processing.
  • Complete wire transactions according to bank policies and procedures.
  • Assist department leaders with audits and reports, ensuring internal controls are maintained.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; some college or BA/BS preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a financial or banking environment preferred.
  • Excellent work ethic and high levels of integrity.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and focus on results.
  • Knowledge and experience with bank core system processing software and proficiency with Windows-based applications.
  • Knowledge of check processing, ACH, wire transfers, and card services preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in a similar role within bank operations or retail teams.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulations pertaining to bank operation functions.

Nice-to-haves

  • History of relevant continued education is highly preferred.
  • Experience in account reconciliation and deposit operations.
