About the position

The Deposit Operations Specialist is responsible for performing intermediate to advanced back office operational duties for all Bank branches and departments. This role supports employees and promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff when necessary. The position requires comprehensive knowledge of departmental functions and is expected to provide leadership, training, and support to less experienced staff members.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intermediate to advanced duties related to operational background functions serviced by the department, including Cash Letter Adjustments, Wire Transfer Processing, and Fraud Prevention Review.
  • Respond to inquiries or refer inquiries to the appropriate department or person, ensuring necessary follow-through with customers and/or staff involved.
  • Assume responsibility for various department functions in the absence of staff members or during overload situations.
  • Process, solve, and answer difficult customer transactions, providing effective customer service and resolving problems within given authority.
  • Perform routine reviews of Operations work to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Assist or perform related duties, including placing holds and stop payments, and balancing general ledger accounts.
  • Gather data and process various reports for other departments upon request.
  • Ensure compliance with all Bank policies and procedures and applicable banking laws and regulations.
  • Complete administrative tasks correctly and on time, supporting the Bank's goals and values.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a college or university; or 2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Work-related experience should consist of a financial institution clerical and/or branch support background.
  • Intermediate experience, knowledge, and training in bank operation activities, terminology, and products and services.
  • Basic knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations and operational policies.
  • Basic skills in word processing, spreadsheet, and account opening software programs.
  • Basic math skills to calculate interest and balance accounts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in cash handling (1 year preferred).
  • Experience in banking (1 year preferred).
  • Experience in customer service (1 year preferred).
