As the Deputy Assistant Federal Security Director for Threat Assessment Programs (DAFSD-TAP) at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), you will play a critical role in safeguarding the American way of life in a high-stakes environment. This position is based at the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and involves managing staff responsible for various threat assessment programs, including Transportation Security Officers certified in Behavior Detection, Transportation Security Specialists - Explosives (TSS-Es), and Explosive Detection Canine Handlers. Your primary focus will be on administering laws, regulations, and policies related to TSA's transportation security program, utilizing layered security assets and techniques to mitigate threats effectively. In this role, you will be tasked with protecting the traveling public by preventing dangerous or deadly objects from being transported on aircraft or other modes of transportation. You will participate in briefings concerning sensitive information and communicate with subordinate supervisors and employees regarding any weaknesses in the security screening process, making recommendations for improvements. Your responsibilities will include exercising managerial authority over staff in a 24x7 environment, utilizing risk-based analysis for effective scheduling of operations assets, and collaborating with other airport managers and Federal Security Directors in tactical and strategic planning processes. Additionally, you will provide professional guidance and expertise in monitoring and evaluating existing aviation operations security and related law enforcement programs, developing and implementing innovative approaches for long-term improvements to mitigate threats. As a first-line supervisor, you will assign work, set priorities, review and evaluate the performance of subordinates, approve leave, coach and develop employees, and manage projects within assigned resources. This position requires a strong commitment to security and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
