About the position

The Deputy Athletic Director at Mississippi Valley State University is responsible for providing leadership across various intercollegiate athletics functions. This role encompasses overseeing operations related to external affairs, medical services, risk management, student-athlete welfare, compliance with athletic regulations, and more. The Deputy Athletic Director will collaborate with university offices and community agencies, supervise staff and student employees, and ensure the fiscal soundness of athletic programs while supporting the Athletic Director in various administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership to assigned intercollegiate athletics functions, including external operations, medical services, risk management, and student-athlete welfare.
  • Develops and administers policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NCAA and athletic conference rules.
  • Collaborates with University offices and community agencies to manage assigned functions effectively.
  • Supervises staff and student employees, resolving personnel and operational issues.
  • Provides direct supervision to selected sports teams, ensuring compliance with intercollegiate rules and regulations.
  • Oversees the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics in the absence of the Director.
  • Assists the Athletic Director in supervising athletic programs and recommending policies.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of the annual budget for athletics.
  • Coordinates support personnel for athletic contests, including game management and security.
  • Implements and monitors the Athletic Code of conduct.
  • Supervises all athletic contests and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Serves as the Senior Women Administrator and carries out other duties assigned by the Athletic Director.

Requirements

  • Five years' relevant experience in athletic administration or a related field.
  • Supervisory experience in a professional setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of intercollegiate athletic programs, rules, and regulations.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a related field.
