About the position

The Deputy Athletic Director plays a crucial leadership role in overseeing various intercollegiate athletics functions, ensuring compliance with NCAA regulations, and promoting student-athlete welfare. This position involves collaboration with university offices and community agencies, supervision of staff and student employees, and direct oversight of selected sports teams. The Deputy Athletic Director also assists the Athletic Director in budget development, policy implementation, and overall management of athletic programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership to assigned intercollegiate athletics functions, including external operations, medical services, risk management, and student-athlete welfare.
  • Develops and administers policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NCAA and athletic conference rules.
  • Collaborates with University offices and community agencies to manage assigned functions effectively.
  • Supervises staff and student employees, resolving personnel and operational issues.
  • Provides direct supervision to selected sports teams, ensuring fiscal soundness and compliance with regulations.
  • Oversees the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics in the absence of the Director.
  • Assists the Athletic Director in supervising athletic programs and recommending policies.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of the annual budget.
  • Coordinates support personnel for athletic contests, including game management and security.
  • Implements and monitors the Athletic Code of conduct.
  • Supervises all athletic contests and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Serves as the Senior Women Administrator.
  • Carries out all other duties assigned by the Athletic Director.

Requirements

  • Five years' relevant experience in intercollegiate athletics.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of intercollegiate athletic programs, rules, and regulations.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a related field.
