About the position

The Deputy Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer at Sutter Health is responsible for administering and overseeing the ethics and compliance program across the market/network/system service line. This role involves leading compliance initiatives, ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations, and fostering a compliant work environment. The officer will also manage investigations of compliance issues, coordinate with various teams for risk mitigation, and provide guidance on compliance-related matters to leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and oversee the Sutter Health ethics and compliance program at the market/network/system service line level.
  • Lead the ethics and compliance program in accordance with federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Develop and implement compliance processes, tools, and training resources.
  • Author advisories and alerts related to compliance risks and issues.
  • Oversee investigations and remediation of high-risk compliance issues.
  • Coordinate with ethics & compliance services leaders for system-wide risk mitigation.
  • Complete required reporting and interactions with local, state, and federal governments.
  • Participate in task forces aimed at reducing compliance-related risks.
  • Manage staff development and succession planning for ethics & compliance services.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field (equivalent experience accepted).
  • CHC-Certified in Healthcare Compliance.
  • 12 years of recent relevant experience in ethics and compliance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise in healthcare operations, revenue cycle, billing, and coding.
  • Knowledge of federal and state anti-kickback and physician self-referral laws.
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
