About the position

The Deputy Chief Financial Officer (Deputy CFO) at Columbus State Community College will play a crucial role in the transition of financial leadership as the current CFO prepares for retirement. This position is designed to provide strategic financial leadership, develop the College's annual budget, and enhance financial oversight while collaborating with senior leaders and the Board of Trustees. The Deputy CFO will also be responsible for implementing new business practices and systems to support the College's mission and strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic financial leadership through proactive financial planning and analysis.
  • Develop the College's annual budget, collaborating with leadership on various financial factors.
  • Provide long-range revenue estimates and financial forecasting for academic units.
  • Manage reporting requirements for the Ohio Department of Higher Education and other state entities.
  • Track and research funding sources for general operations and specific initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the President, Cabinet, and other senior leaders throughout the College.
  • Participate in Board of Trustees meetings and Cabinet retreats.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, fiscal management, or accounting.
  • At least ten years of progressively responsible budget/fiscal management experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree and experience with higher education.
  • Public sector experience in Ohio.
  • Workday experience.
  • Strong financial systems background with experience in financial reporting systems.
  • Understanding of Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) accounting standards.
