About the position

The Deputy Chief Financial Officer (DCFO) plays a critical role in overseeing the financial operations of the organization. This position requires a strong background in accounting and financial analysis, as well as the ability to manage and direct finance staff. The DCFO will assist in preparing reports for the Board, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and support grant management and budgetary compliance. The role also involves coordinating audits and maintaining financial records, making it essential for the effective management of the district's financial resources.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and evaluate the finance staff on a daily basis.
  • Assist in preparing reports for Board Members, including payment listings for CFO approval.
  • Complete Memorandum of Agreement calculations for the district.
  • Review and approve purchase requisitions, ensuring compliance with procurement codes.
  • Assist with grant applications and monitor grants for budgetary compliance.
  • Review and approve travel reimbursement requests, ensuring adherence to board policies and IRS regulations.
  • Manage quarterly and annual Medicaid reporting related to financial data.
  • Coordinate audit fieldwork and maintain records of fidelity bonds and insurance.
  • Oversee fixed assets and ensure proper recording in MUNIS.
  • Update district personnel on finance and purchasing issues as needed.
  • Assist with MUNIS system administration, including program updates.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations for CFO review.
  • Support continuous improvement of finance department processes.
  • Ensure proper segregation of duties within the finance department.
  • Review and approve payroll and accounts payable invoices.
  • Respond to inquiries from district staff, vendors, and others.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO or Superintendent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, bank reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
