About the position

The Deputy Chief Information Officer of Operations (Senior Public Service Administrator, Opt. 3) position is a pivotal role within the Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) in the State of Illinois. This position is responsible for overseeing the Information Technology (IT) Operations Program specifically for the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). The Deputy CIO will plan, advise, direct, manage, and coordinate various IT operations, which include the Project Office, Application Service Desk, and Cloud Architect functions. This role is crucial in ensuring that the IT infrastructure and services align with the strategic goals of the department and effectively support the needs of the DCFS. In addition to managing IT operations, the Deputy CIO will also be responsible for overseeing Information Security for DoIT-DCFS. This includes ensuring that all IT systems are secure and compliant with state and federal regulations. The Deputy CIO will manage the Platform Systems Support and will serve as a full-line supervisor to a team of IT professionals, providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure high performance and effective service delivery. The ideal candidate for this position will possess a strong background in IT management, with a focus on operations and security. They should have experience in leading teams, managing complex IT projects, and developing strategies that enhance operational efficiency. The role requires a dynamic and creative thinker who can solve problems effectively and adapt to the evolving needs of the department. The Deputy CIO will play a key role in fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment within the DoIT team.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, advise, direct, manage, and coordinate the Information Technology (IT) Operations Program for DoIT-DCFS.
