About the position

The Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO) serves as a senior leadership role within the Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) for the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC). This position is responsible for overseeing various operational areas including Information Security, Audit Compliance, Financial Services, Customer Service, and Program Management. The Deputy CIO will lead a team in modernizing service delivery for individuals in custody, ensuring compliance with enterprise direction and enhancing data strategies.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, coordinate, and supervise professional staff in operational areas.
• Oversee and implement processes, controls, and standards for compliance with IDOC schedules and priorities.
• Represent DoIT/IDOC at meetings and conferences.
• Coordinate audit responses to the Office of the Auditor General and Federal Auditors.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

• Completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in management information systems, data processing, or telecommunications.
• Four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in management information systems, data processing, or telecommunications.

Nice-to-haves

• Four (4) years of professional experience supervising management information technology staff.
• Experience with application developmental processes in an IT organization.
• Experience with database management processes in an IT organization.
• Knowledge of staff development processes in IT organizations.
• Extensive knowledge of large-scale management information technical and network infrastructure.
