About the position

The Deputy Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will support the Chief Information Security Officer in enhancing the cybersecurity posture of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). This role involves managing a comprehensive information security and risk management program, overseeing security architecture and operations, and engaging with various stakeholders to develop national-level cybersecurity policies and strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the CISA Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).
  • Manage a comprehensive Agency-wide information security and risk management program.
  • Oversee the Agency's security architecture and security operations center.
  • Lead teams to design, implement, and evaluate cybersecurity policies and programs.
  • Coordinate with the Department and interagency bodies to support national-level cybersecurity policy development.
  • Represent DHS policy positions in interagency working groups and with external stakeholders.
  • Review and analyze new legislation and policy initiatives affecting DHS operations.
  • Assist employees in applying laws and regulations to ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies.
  • Supervise staff conducting technical policy reviews of cybersecurity programs.
  • Provide leadership and advisement for engagement with Congress regarding cybersecurity resources and authorities.
  • Mentor DHS employees in cybersecurity policy and practices.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to share information supporting cybersecurity policies.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or national.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be registered for the Selective Service (if male).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance.
  • Must be able to submit to a drug test and receive a negative result.
  • Must comply with ethics and standards of conduct requirements.
  • 12+ years of cybersecurity work experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Cybersecurity Defensive Operations, Cybersecurity Engineering, or Cybersecurity Architecture.
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in cybersecurity.
