About the position

The Deputy Chief of Maintenance for the Fleet Management Division plays a crucial role in overseeing the maintenance and repairs of the City's fleet operations. This position involves managing a large team, ensuring optimal productivity, and maintaining high standards of service across multiple facilities. The Deputy Chief will also be responsible for budget management and vendor relationships, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Fleet Management Division.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct the day-to-day maintenance and repairs for the City, managing an annual budget of approximately $41 million.
  • Provide oversight of Building Maintenance Staff to optimize team productivity and minimize labor expenses.
  • Continuously monitor and enhance Fleet Maintenance performance.
  • Directly supervise two Fleet Superintendents and oversee thirteen supervisors managing a total of 150 Fleet Facilities Maintenance employees across ten locations.
  • Collaborate with the Fleet Management Chief and Deputy Chief of Administration to manage the Fleet Division's total budget of $87 million.
  • Utilize vehicle and equipment maintenance experience to monitor and enhance the Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Manage relationships and performance of approximately 150 vendors, vehicle manufacturers, and maintenance and repair vendors.
  • Lead special projects and initiatives related to Building Maintenance tasks and vehicle inspections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Seven years of experience in administrative or professional work, with two years in supervision or project management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum of five years of senior management experience in Fleet management.
