About the position

The Deputy Chief of Staff for the DoD CIO PNT Directorate serves as the primary support point of contact for the Program Manager and Government Customer, managing the PNT workload. This role involves coordinating daily and long-term activities, ensuring timely and efficient task management, and acting as a liaison between various stakeholders. The position requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and assign staff work functions and activities to the support staff
  • Coordinate strategic initiatives and guidance with the support staff
  • Anticipate Customer needs and prepare sufficient information
  • Track daily tasks and help oversee projects of high importance
  • Act as a main staff POC to the Customer and the Program Manager
  • Manage Customer calendar and meeting schedules to ensure deadlines are being met
  • Interpret and apply DoD and National PNT related Policy as required
  • Work with support staff and all stakeholders to ensure staff work is completed
  • Act as liaison for staff, the Customer, department leaders, as required
  • Assist Customer and Program Manager with communication, meeting planning, and messaging to the support staff and outside stakeholders
  • Advise Customer and Program Manager on current working climate (employee wellbeing, project statuses, new proposals, etc.)
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure unity of messaging to senior leaders
  • Help coordinate enterprise-wide procedures and work to improve existing processes for maximum clarity, efficiency, and success
  • Attend meetings, or assign meeting attendees as required, to support the Customer and deliver progress reports to the Customer
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Customer and Program Manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of experience
  • Top Secret with an SCI clearance
  • Strong Pentagon staff experience across OSD, Joint Staff and the Services (3+ years)
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office and create staff packages
  • Impeccable time management and multi-tasking skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a Div Chief, a GO/FO/SES Exec, MA, or Aide preferred
  • Desired experience in Space Operations, with an understanding of how space systems function - 3 segments, RF C2 links, challenges with ops, sustainment, and modernization
  • Experience with acquisitions, Program Element Monitor (PEM), or RDT&E or DOT&E
  • Effective manager of multi-tiered workload
