About the position

The Deputy Chief of Staff serves as a key leadership role within the U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) Divisions, specifically supporting the Division Chief of Staff. This position involves overseeing various staff functions and providing expert advice and recommendations to ensure the effective operation of the division. The role requires strong management skills, strategic planning capabilities, and the ability to coordinate complex staff actions within a military environment.

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Division Chief of Staff, who reports to the Division Commanding General/Senior Commander.
  • Supervises the Division G-Staff, Inspector General, Public Affairs, Staff Judge Advocate, Chaplain, Safety, SHARP, Protocol, Congressional Liaison, CR2I, and the administrative staff assigned to the Command Group.
  • Conducts extensive coordination of special staff actions and develops command policies and guidance.
  • Provides recommendations and expert staff advice to the Division Chief of Staff.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Experience managing strategic planning to meet organizational objectives.
  • Experience assigning work among personnel to ensure organizational deadlines are met.
  • Experience managing civilian HR personnel and hiring actions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in military operations or support roles.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense policies and procedures.
