About the position

As the Deputy Chief of Staff at Hut 8, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and overseeing various cross-functional projects that are essential to the company's operations. This position requires a highly motivated individual who is prepared to engage in a variety of tasks that span across Operations, Finance, Product, and more. You will be responsible for managing special initiatives, facilitating cross-departmental communication, and aligning top-level business unit priorities and goals. Your work will directly impact the strategic planning and processes of the organization, making this a demanding yet rewarding role. In this capacity, you will own key operational processes, which include organizing weekly leadership meetings, All Hands sessions, and OKR (Objectives and Key Results) reviews. This involves preparing agendas, facilitating discussions, documenting notes and action items, and ensuring timely follow-ups. You will also create briefing materials in collaboration with business stakeholders to ensure the CEO is well-prepared for meetings and that actions from those meetings are followed up on promptly. Your role will extend to tracking the company's and departmental OKRs on a day-to-day basis, acting as a cross-functional liaison for the CEO, and serving as a thought partner to business unit leadership. You will proactively identify risks and opportunities that can shape products and improve internal operations. Additionally, you will serve as a program manager on special projects for the CEO, partner with the Chief of Staff to define business priorities, and drive the execution of key initiatives while creating alignment within teams. The Deputy Chief of Staff will also help develop overall business unit strategy, business development priorities, and internal operating models. You will be responsible for driving the planning processes for the company on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, performing analyses, and providing recommendations to facilitate effective decision-making within business units. This role is not just about supporting the CEO; it is about taking ownership of significant projects and initiatives that will shape the future of Hut 8.

Responsibilities

  • Own key operational processes such as weekly leadership meetings, All Hands, and OKR reviews, including preparing agendas, facilitating discussions, documenting notes and action items, and closing out follow-ups.
  • Create briefing materials in collaboration with business stakeholders to ensure the CEO is prepped for meetings and ensure timely follow-up on meeting actions.
  • Play a key role in the day-to-day tracking of our company and departmental OKRs.
  • Act as a cross-functional liaison for the CEO.
  • Act as a thought partner to business unit leadership, proactively identifying risks and opportunities to shape our products and improve internal operations.
  • Serve as a program manager on special projects for the CEO.
  • Partner with the Chief of Staff and CEO to define business priorities, drive execution of key initiatives, and create alignment between and within teams.
  • Help develop overall business unit strategy, business development priorities, and internal operating models.
  • Drive weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual planning processes for the whole company.
  • Perform analyses and provide recommendations to facilitate effective business unit decision making.
  • And other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in highly strategic, analytical, and operational roles such as an associate or analyst at a top-tier consulting firm or investment bank, business development or operations at a major tech company, or as an officer in the U.S. Military.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and initiatives and establish credibility with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to synthesize complex details into accessible and precise insights.
  • Entrepreneurial and driven with a track record of high efficiency/output.
  • Strong orientation towards outcomes, with a willingness to roll up sleeves and get the job done.
  • Ability to learn quickly and maintain high standards in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as an assistant or advisor to a Senior Executive.
  • Experience as a legislative assistant or press secretary to a U.S. Senator or Congressman.
